  • You’ve tried to grow plants from seed, but you haven’t had success with seed starting or transplanting.

Thank you to all who are getting your family’s bee Thank you to all who are getting your family’s beef from us this year! The beef animals go to the local butcher in 3 days and they all look fantastic. The first pic on this post is of one that is particularly impressive. Check out the fat rings on her tail head! She has never had even a bite of corn, all grass and forage. In our humble opinion, this system of beef production is quite possibly the best way to heal the land and the body.
The second pic is of a couple young momma cows that are the ideal models of what we want for maternal genetics. Big gut and fine bones. They just had their first baby this year at 2 years old. We will be preg checking them soon. If they bred back in this crucial year where they had to raise a calf and continue to grow and develop themselves, then they’ve earned a spot in cow paradise here for years to come!
So since we’ve moved the chickens out by the cows, So since we’ve moved the chickens out by the cows, we have to drive out at night to lock them up and collect eggs. The last few weeks we have been jumping several birds each trip that all look alike.
They are small but with relatively large wings and very pretty white tips/streaks on the wings that are kind of mesmerizing when they fly in front of the ATV light.
Well tonight we were finally able to get a close up pic and ID them! They are the Common Nighthawk and they are apparently bug eating sons-of-a-guns and are likely stopping through on their migration.
If I had to label the biggest observation we’ve had this year in the farm, it wouldn’t be the grass or grazing…. It’d be the birds! We’ve seen so many that we’ve never noticed before and many more of the ones we normally see. This is definitely one of the perks of the job that you’ll never really notice on the balance sheet. God is good and wants to bless us if we but submit to His design 🙏🙌
Happy Sunday everyone!
The herd has been loving the sorghum-sudangrass (s The herd has been loving the sorghum-sudangrass (ss) this year! This has been a fantastic opportunity for our finish animals to put on intramuscular fat (marbling) and our young mommas to grow their calf, grow themselves, and stay in good enough condition to breed back.
This was our wheat field this year and we broadcasted the ss seed with a drone into the standing wheat on June 13. The pic of me next to the crop was on August 7th and it was well over 10’ tall in most parts! This stuff is simply amazing.
This is one of the ways we are doing regenerative ag and trying to make the most out of poor grain markets. Bringing the animals back on the land. 🐮🤠🌱🌾
The very last cut flower harvest from our original The very last cut flower harvest from our original garden for our church picnic this week. By the end of the day today, Sievers Blumen Farm will officially only be on the east side of the highway. Bittersweet moment. We brought 4 babies home to that house, started our flower farm, grazed our first cows, tended our first chickens, and learned so much about growing and raising animals and plants (and children!) there. May God bless the new owners on those three little acres just as He blessed us! 🌻💐🌷
