Description
A new tulip variety for us in 2024! Super Parrot was a replacement from our supplier to the original “White Parrot” we grew last year. We expect it to be much the same, except that there is more green veining on the petals (as shown in the picture). However, we loved the White Parrot last year and have no doubts Super Parrot will be just as pretty! Parrot tulips are unique because the petals are usually fringed along the edges or they have a wavy texture. When they unfold they are stunning! Large and showy. They really make an impact. Each package contains 10 bulbs. *Please note this tulip does not perennialize well. May be best as a cut flower.*
Tulips should be planted approximately 6 inches deep in the Fall (October to November) for adequate chilling time. Plant tulips up to 6 inches apart in the landscape or plant them egg crate style (basically 1 inch apart) for cut flowers. Do not cut the flowers and allow the foliage to die back completely before removing it if you are wanting your tulips to perennialize in the landscape. For cut flower use, pull the tulip stem with bulb attached to extend storage time in a cooler or cut the bulb off and pop the stems in a vase for a lovely Spring arrangement.
